This Summer YMCA Teesdale delivered a series of group activity sessions for children in Cockfield and Evenwood

Water fun with YMCA Teesdale
Gardening with YMCA Teesdale
Glebe Garden hosted the Cockfield based sessions. The children helped improve a community garden space; planting out lots of plants, flowers and crops. Additionally the children cut back overgrown hedges, wove willow fencing and worked on ideas to encourage more wildlife into the garden. During the final session the group enjoyed rock painting and making suncatchers; getting crafty whilst staying connected to nature.

Over in Evenwood, activities included garden tidying and planting up tubs with flowers to enhance the Community Space, crafts and sports. The children excelled at dodgeball and competition was fierce! Equally they enjoyed making beautiful crafty items to take home for their families and friends.
A highlight for many was the combined trip to TCR Hub. Not only did the Evenwood and Cockfield children get to mix, but they partook in some challenging and adventurous activities. The day started with team challenges on the high ropes and concluded with canoeing on the lake (and enjoying a splash in the lake too!)

Thanks to everyone who has donated to YMCA Teesdale in the last year: without your donations it wouldn’t have been possible to put on such a full and valuable Summer activity programme.
