Last month one of our local schools grabbed their chef hats and cooked up a feast, which was enjoyed by attendees of our Senior lunch club in YMCA Teesdale’s Community Cafe.
Ms Hancock and Miss Racher from Cockfield Nursery and Primary School contacted the Cafe to say that pupils from years 3 to 6 are kindly offering to provide food for the senior lunch club which runs every Wednesday.
The children visited their school allotment, picking fresh fruit and vegetables for the feast, then worked in groups to prepare, cook and portion the fruit and veg. An impressive 27 portions of potato and leek soup and apple crumble were presented to cafe customers.
The team at YMCA Teesdale would like to say a huge thank you to the schools and pupils involved, and for being so kind and generous with supporting local organisations.
