YMCA Teesdale is delighted to have been selected to deliver youth support at RAF Leeming as part of a countrywide collaboration between YMCA’s and the RAF Benevolent Fund from January 2022.

This Summer YMCA Teesdale delivered a series of group activity sessions for children in Cockfield and Evenwood.

When we started in Evenwood 3 years ago, we partnered with North Star Housing Association Community Connector and hit the streets for some consultation. We went door to door to get the residents comments and ideas. Although all the residents were keen to see something happen, they were hesitant about whether this would work.

YMCA Teesdale recently received funding from TAP which allowed the team to help out the local community.

Last month one of our local schools grabbed their chef hats and cooked up a feast, which was enjoyed by attendees of our Senior lunch club in YMCA Teesdale’s Community Cafe.

During the summer holidays, YMCA Teesdale delivered more care packages to children and young people who had been confined to their homes for a long time due to the Covid19 lockdown. Since YMCA was unable to run their usual youth clubs, they made sure to take the youth club to them. these packs provided fun activities that children could do from the safety of their own homes.

With charities heavily relying on fundraising events and regular donations, it’s no surprise that COVID 19 has had a huge impact on the number of contributions needed to ensure we have the means to continue the work we do for vulnerable young people.

When we went into lockdown, we knew, in an area such as Cockfield, YMCA Community Cafe had a role to play in supporting the community through these unprecedented times. This, our small way of ensuring locals remained fed, happy and connected.  Thanks to our funders...

In March 2018, we hosted the first-ever, YMCA Teesdale Sleep Easy, supported by St Mary's Chruch who provided the venue, Babuls (then Spice Island) for the curries and Oliver Twists for the Breakfasts. We were joined by 10 fantastic volunteers who slept in all weather...

Over the weekend, Hayley accepted the post of Community Cafe Supervisor for YMCA’s cafe service in Cockfield. We are sure everyone will join in congratulating Hayley in this new and exciting position.

The Community Cafe opened it’s doors to some special guests, providing an open space for the children to burn off their excited energy and a sanctuary for mam and dad to get a brew, while everyone waited patiently for the big arrival… IT’S SANTA!
