2 Day Graffiti Project

Graffiti-Project
Looking better

On the 13th and 14th April, some of the young people who attend the YMCA in Barnard Castle met up for a 2 day graffiti workshop. The funding for the scheme came from the Small Grants Panel. Louis Robson, applied for the grant and was delighted when it was awarded.

Rebecca Pearson, one of the youth workers, organised the workshop with help from a local graffiti artist overseeing the work in the yard. The project was fantastic and saw some real creativity from our young people who did a fantastic job updating the yard and putting a stamp on their space.

TYMCA Young People selected to attend Young People initiative

We’re going on our summer holiday ‘all expenses paid’

The Rotary clubs of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle have selected Josh Barker and Martin Arkley to attend an all expenses paid summer leadership camp. Josh and Martin will meet up with 30 other young people from across the North East.

Both boys attended interviews prior to being selected. In the interviews they discussed what ‘makes a good leader?’  and ‘why they want to gain leadership skills’. Josh and Martin gave examples of leadership from experiences they had gained from attending YMCA Teesdale.

After the camp the boys will deliver presentations to the local Rotary groups and in a larger event reflecting on their experience.
